In the English language the genitive case is used to show or project a sense of ownership. This term is much more related to languages other than English. In English it will often be referred to as the possessive case. It can also be used to display a source of something and in some cases a trait or characteristic. It can be used to display possession in an adjective dependent noun or a basic noun or pronoun.
