The Spanish writing system is basically transparent, whereas in English it is not. However, while in Spanish we would never consider leaving the learning of basic reading and writing skills to chance, in some English classrooms very little time is dedicated to this vital and highly complex area. This leaves our pupils with little alternative but to apply the grapheme-phoneme rules they have learnt in Spanish to English, with the inevitable disasterous results. This course intends to provide Spanish teachers with the real tools that English teachers use in their daily lessons.
